For art and culture enthusiasts Cherasco offers a rich calendar of events:
At Palazzo Salmatoris, an informal prelude to the second major event of the art season, Saturday, July 6, opening moment of the exhibition “Napoleon. La campagne du monde ... in Cherasco.” The traveling exhibition, created by French-Italian painter Jean Gaudaire-Thor for the bicentenary of the death of the Emperor of the French, has touched important cities in Italy and France since 2021. The works that comprise it, which can be seen until Oct. 20, trace the epic of the Corsican general from the conquest of Toulon, the initial moment of his dazzling career, in 1793.
Emanuele Luzzati's multifaceted career is the focus of the last exhibition of the season, kicking off Nov. 1. The exhibit, “Between Fairy Tale and Fantasy,” traces the existential parabola of the Genoese artist from his beginnings, with scripts for the “Piccolo teatro Eleonora Duse,” to the production of majolica in the Tortarolo workshop in Albissola Marina, to his two Oscar nominations, with the animated films “La gazza ladra” and “Pulcinella” directed by Giulio Gianini. A section of the exhibit, which can be visited until Feb. 23, 2025, will be devoted to illustrated books, a vast catalog that includes works such as “The Paladins of France.”
