THE ARCH OF PORTA NARZOLE

THE ARCH OF PORTA NARZOLE

The Arch of Porta Narzole was built at the end of the 18th century and left unfinished, built in imitation and perspective symmetry to the Arch of Our Lady of the Rosary. New walls were designed and built in 1610 by the architect Ascanio Vittozzi, when the use of artillery changed the very concept of defense. At that moment the city had the «star» structure plan, as Borgonio designed for the «Theatrum Sabaudiæ».

At the beginning of the 19th century the walls were finally demolished and the avenues were drawn to delimit the land they had previously occupied.
