The seventeenth-century Palazzo Gotti of Salerano is home to the Civic Museum "G.B. Adriani", with a magnificent portal and remarkable main entrance door. In some rooms, frescoed by Taricco, in the years 1672-81, there are documents of local and Piedmontese history, various ancient objects (small statues, amphorae, cinerary urns), a medallion and a remarkable numismatic collection (Greek, Roman, Italian and foreign coins). The collections, coming from the donation of the citizen G.B. Adriani, distinguished historian of the last century, are of extraordinary importance for the history and the reconstruction of the local culture.
In the main hall of the Palace the Piedmontese Senate held regular sessions during the siege of Turin in 1706.
Recently it has been enriched with two new rooms, dedicated to as many illustrious citizens of Cherasco: the multifaceted artist Sebastiano Taricco and the first Bersagliere d'Italia, Giuseppe Vayra. Both are located on the ground floor of the building.
The Municipal Museum is open every Sunday and public holidays from 9.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. and from 2.30 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. with free admission.
