In Via Nostra Signora del Popolo you can admire the splendid terracotta façade of the Church of the Madonna del Popolo, completed in 1702 to a design by the painter and architect Sebastiano Taricco and under the direction of the architects Crappa and Rocca (Rocha). The inside of the church is rich in art: on the sides of the presbytery the two wooden statues
(St. John the Evangelist and St. Joseph) by the artist form Cherasco Bonanate (mid '700); frescoes by Aliberti (1662-1739) above the entrance and above the high altar; in the presbytery two precious "adorations" by the lionese restaurer Pietro Metey (1728-1765), coming from the Camaldolese Hermitage of Selva Maggiore; two paintings by Giovanni Claret (1599-1679) and more works by Taricco, Giuseppe Barotti, Operti, and the beautifully carved benches.
Consecrated as a Marian Shrine in 1988, it is now a pilgrimage destination for people from all over Italy.
