TOWN HALL AND CIVIC TOWER

TOWN HALL AND CIVIC TOWER

On the facade of the recently restored Town Hall we can see significant examples of the ancient and deep culture of the city: big Gothic arches, friezes and decorations dating back to the fifteenth and sixteenth century, the fresco of the eighteenth century in which stands the unique and beautiful coat of arms of Cherasco with a young man and a young maiden - the rivers Tanaro and Stura - that merge in the confluence at the bottom of the valley. The authentic coat of arms of the city is represented by a red cross on a white field.

The tower, also recently cleaned from a later plaster covering, shows on the facade a precious and very rare lunar with a wooded scene on which, according to the phases, the moon rises and sets. On the south side, after the restoration works, an elegant baroque sundial has appeared.
